Central Team Inspects Palayamkottai Siddha Medical College

A team of doctors from Central Council for Indian Medicine (CCIM) inspected Government Siddha Medical College Hospital in Palayamkottai on Wednesday to ascertain whether the 50-year-old institution has adequate infrastructure for imparting quality education to 100
students to be admitted in the ensuing academic year.

The four-member team, led by Dr. Rajasekar, former Additional Secretary, Department of Public Health, Government of Tamil Nadu, visited the college, hospital, wards, inpatient and outpatient sections, pharmacy, laboratories and students’ hostel to assess the facilities available there. “We’ll compile our findings as soon as possible so that we can submit our findings by August 13.

Based on the findings and the recommendations, appropriate and immediate action will be taken by the government to ensure the admission of 100 students this academic year,” Dr. Rajasekar said.

He said six teams were conducting similar inspections in government and private Siddha and homeopathy colleges across the State.
