AIIMS, Bhubaneswar to introduce Ayurveda, Yoga, Homoeopathy, Unani
Bhubaneswar:
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar would
introduce traditional systems of treatment such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Homoeopathy
and Unani in two to three months’ time. This was informed by its director Dr.Ashok Kumar Mohapatra.
Dr. Mohapatra said the National Healthcare Institute has
planned to open out-patient departments (OPDs) to provide these traditional
systems of treatment for minor ailments like cough, cold, fever and stomach disorder
to lessen pressure on existing limited staffs in the premier institute.
Dr. Mohapatra said the treatments with lesser side effects
would also cost less to the patients in comparison to allopathic treatment. He
further informed that it is not possible for the institute to provide
in-patient facility in these schools of medicine at present.
Presently, the AIIMS, Bhubaneswar has more than 200 beds
with 26 departments, including Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology and Orthopedics.
It has plans to enhance the bed strength to 500 and the numbers of departments
to 50.
The expansion project of the hospital is scheduled to be
inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December this year.
