Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (Deemed to be University), Salem, invites applications for admission to its Ph.D. programmes for the October 2026 session. Applications are invited for both Full-Time and Part-Time Ph.D. programmes.

Eligibility

Candidates who have completed the prescribed Master's degree or equivalent qualification as per the applicable UGC/University regulations are eligible to apply.

Generally, candidates should have secured at least 55% marks in aggregate. A relaxation of 5% may be applicable to SC/ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), Differently-Abled, EWS and other eligible categories as specified by the University/UGC.

Candidates seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor's degree should have a minimum of 75% marks, subject to the applicable relaxation.

Part-Time Ph.D.

Part-Time Internal: Available for regular full-time faculty members of VMRF (DU).

Part-Time External: Candidates working outside VMRF (DU), preferably in other postgraduate institutions, and candidates from reputed institutions with sophisticated research facilities may apply.

Selection Process

Admission will be through an Entrance Examination and Interview conducted by the University.

• Entrance Examination: 70% weightage
• Interview/Viva Voce: 30% weightage
• Written Examination: 70 MCQs carrying 1 mark each
• Syllabus: 50% Research Methodology and 50% subject-specific content
• Qualifying marks: 50% in the entrance examination, with applicable relaxation for eligible categories

Candidates qualified for fellowship/scholarship through examinations such as UGC-NET, UGC-CSIR NET, GATE, CEED and similar national-level tests are exempted from the entrance examination but must appear for the interview.

During the interview, candidates are required to discuss their proposed research interest/area through a presentation before the Research Committee.

Research Fellowship

VMRF (DU) offers research fellowships to eligible scholars registered in the Full-Time Ph.D. programme.

• ₹30,000 per month: Candidates qualified in GATE, NET (Ayush), UGC-NET/JRF, UGC-CSIR NET/JRF, SLET, GRE, CAT, ICMR and other national eligibility tests, subject to merit and available vacancies.
• Up to ₹25,000 per month: Other eligible Full-Time research scholars based on merit.

Fee Structure

• Application Fee: ₹1,000
• Registration Fee: ₹10,000
• Full-Time Tuition Fee: ₹50,000 per year
• Part-Time External Tuition Fee: ₹75,000 per year
• Part-Time Internal Tuition Fee: ₹25,000 per year

How to Apply

The prescribed application form can be downloaded from the University website. Candidates should approach the concerned institution and department and discuss their proposed research area with the available research supervisors.

For Part-Time Ph.D. admission, the application is also required to be signed by the candidate's employer.

The completely filled application along with the applicable fee should reach the University on or before 30 September 2026 at 5:30 PM.
