    New BHMS Colleges, MD (Hom.) Courses and Seat Enhancements for AY 2026-27: Government & National Institutes Lead Expansion

    Government Homeopathy College, Kolhapur Receives LOI

    The proposed Government Homeopathy College at Pimpalgaon Khurd, Kagal, Kolhapur, Maharashtra has applied to start a new BHMS programme with an intake capacity of 100 seats. The institution has already received a Letter of Intent (LOI), marking a significant step toward becoming one of the newest government Homoeopathy colleges in the country.

    Tripura Government Homoeopathic Medical College Advances Towards Approval

    Another important development is the proposed Tripura Government Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital at Agartala. The institution has applied for a new BHMS course with 60 seats and has also received a Letter of Intent.

    NEIAH Shillong Proposes New MD (Hom.) Course

    The institution has received a Letter of Intent for starting 30 postgraduate seats distributed among:

    • Practice of Medicine – 6 seats

    • Bakson Homoeopathic Medical College, Uttar Pradesh – Dermatology (6 seats)

    • Mahalaxmi Homoeopathy Medical College, Maharashtra – Materia Medica, Practice of Medicine and Pediatrics (18 seats)

    • Vidhyadeep Homoeopathic Medical College, Gujarat – Dermatology (6 seats)

    • North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH), Meghalaya – Pharmacy (2 seats)

    • National Institute of Homoeopathy (NIH), Kolkata – Community Medicine (4 seats)

    The addition of these specialised postgraduate courses is expected to strengthen Homoeopathic education, research, and clinical training in India.

    Colleges Seeking Seat Enhancement

    Several existing institutions have applied to increase their BHMS intake from 50 or 60 seats to 100 seats.

    Baroda Homoeopathic Medical College, Vadodara has applied for an increase of 15 MD (Hom.) seats in:

    • Materia Medica

    • Pediatrics

    • Repertory

    • Organon of Medicine

    • Practice of Medicine

    Applications Withdrawn or Not Considered

    The report also notes certain applications that did not progress further:

    • Chettinad Institute of Homoeopathy Education & Research, Karnataka – Application withdrawn.

    • Venkateshwara Homoeopathic Medical College, Sangli, Maharashtra – Application withdrawn.

    • Dr. Bhanudas Dere Homoeopathic Medical College, Maharashtra – Application not considered due to non-availability of NOC.
