November Cancer Awareness Month – Lung, Pancreatic, Stomach, and Carcinoid Tumour Awareness

    cancer awareness
Every November, the world unites to observe Cancer Awareness Month, focusing on some of the most challenging cancers that affect millions globally — Lung Cancer, Pancreatic Cancer, Stomach Cancer, and Carcinoid (Neuroendocrine) Tumours.

These awareness campaigns aim to spread knowledge about early signs, promote screening, and inspire research and support for patients and their families.

    🎗️ Lung Cancer Awareness Month

    Ribbon: White / Pearl
Focus: Prevention, early detection, and support

Lung cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Smoking remains the biggest risk factor, but non-smokers can also develop it due to air pollution, occupational exposure, or genetic factors.
Early symptoms like persistent cough, chest pain, or shortness of breath should never be ignored. Early screening can save lives.

    💜 Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month

    Ribbon: Purple
    Focus: Research and early diagnosis

Pancreatic cancer often shows no symptoms until it reaches an advanced stage, making early detection crucial.
Symptoms may include jaundice, unexplained weight loss, abdominal pain, and fatigue.
World Pancreatic Cancer Day is observed on the third Thursday of November, encouraging people to “Shine Purple” in solidarity with patients and survivors.

💙 Stomach (Gastric) Cancer Awareness Month

    Ribbon: Periwinkle Blue
Focus: Awareness about diet and lifestyle factors

Stomach cancer can be linked to Helicobacter pylori infection, poor diet, smoking, and genetic factors.
Awareness programs highlight the importance of healthy eating habits, early screening, and timely treatment to improve survival rates.

🦓 Carcinoid Tumour / Neuroendocrine Tumour (NET) Awareness Month

    Ribbon: Zebra pattern
    Focus: Recognition and education

Neuroendocrine tumours (NETs), including carcinoid tumours, are rare and often misdiagnosed.
World NET Cancer Day is observed on November 10, symbolized by the zebra ribbon — a reminder that not all cancers are alike, and rare ones deserve equal attention.
