Draft Amendments Proposed by NCH Regarding CME for Registration Renewal
As per the proposed amendment to sub-regulation (1) of regulation 9, it is stated that:
“No such updating shall be allowed if the practitioner fails to attend mandatory two CMEs (Continuing Medical Education) within five years.”
To support this amendment, a detailed draft guideline for CMEs has also been released. The key points of the draft guidelines include:
- CMEs can be conducted physically or virtually by recognised homoeopathic medical colleges, research institutes, reputed organisations, or registered practitioners’ associations, with prior permission from BERH-NCH.
- It is the responsibility of State Boards/Councils to plan and conduct enough CMEs, ensuring every practitioner gets the opportunity to attend at least two CMEs in five years.
- Practitioners must earn 100 credit points in five years through these CMEs, with at least 50 credit points from physical attendance.
- CMEs must have qualified speakers, preferably with PG qualifications in Homoeopathy or Modern Medicine.
- Strict protocols for verification of attendance, archiving of sessions, and submission of feedback have been proposed.
- Practitioners aged 70 years or above, and those registered under Part B (experience-based), are exempted from this requirement.
- Certificates will only be issued after full participation and at the conclusion of the CME.
These draft guidelines are proposed to ensure continuous learning, professional development, and to maintain high standards in homoeopathic practice.
