    Monkeypox Management Guidelines by the Ministry of AYUSH

    Monkeypox, once endemic to parts of Africa, is now reported in several non-endemic countries. The Ministry of AYUSH has released guidelines for managing the disease using Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Siddha, Unani and Yoga focusing on addressing symptoms and promoting overall health.


    Key Points on Monkeypox:

    1. Transmission: 

    • Human-to-human transmission occurs primarily via respiratory droplets and direct contact with bodily fluids or lesions.
    • Animal-to-human transmission can happen through bites, scratches, or handling bushmeat from infected animals like rodents or primates.


    2. Incubation & Symptoms:

    • Incubation period: 6 to 13 days (can range from 5 to 21 days).
    • The virus is communicable from 1-2 days before rash onset until all scabs fall off.


    3. Homeopathic Remedies:

       The Ministry recommends selecting remedies based on individual symptoms. Commonly advised remedies include:

    • Apis mellifica
    • Arsenicum album
    • Antimonium tartaricum
    • Belladonna
    • Bryonia
    • Carbo vegetabilis
    • Thuja occidentalis
    • Mercurius
    • Rhus tox
    • Sulphur
