Legitimacy of Homoeopathy Answered During Parliament Question Hour

On 6th February, 2024, during the question hour in Rajya Sabha, one of the Member of Parliament raised a question regarding Homoeopathy's efficacy and it's inclusion in Ayush Wellness centre across India. For which Hon'ble Minster of State, Ayush clarified by replying to it.

Sir, several AYUSH Wellness Centres have been opened by the Government across hospitals in India. These centres offer alternative treatment, including homoeopathy. There is a huge body of global documented and peer-reviewed work across decades, which shows that there are no results, showing that homoeopathy is an illegitimate form of medicinal treatment. In fact, it is quackery. Several countries have even banned homoeopathy. So, on what basis, is a quack and untested treatment, like homeopathy, being promoted in Ayush Wellness Centres in hospitals over modern science-based medicines across India?

Respected Chairman Sir, Minstry of Ayush launched centrally sponsored scheme National Health Mission on 15th September, 2014 for implementation to the state duty and for the common people to provide cost effective and equitable Ayush health care, strengthening preventive and promotive aspect in primary healthcare and holistic wellness model and improve ayush educational institute for imparting quality education. But success story of Ayush Health Centre in Ayush health and wellness centre is all the system of the Ayush, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sow Rigpa treatment given to the patients and success story suggested that the Ayush health and wellness centre are providing holistic wellness model on Ayush principle and practice, focussing on preventing, promotive, curative, rehabilitative healthcare by establishing integrity with existing public healthcare system. As reported by state's authority, footfall of the beneficiary has been increased at the dispensary which have been upgraded as Ayush Health and wellness centre to avail different type of treatment like OPD related services, yoga related activity, prakruthi pariksha related activity, counseling, screening, education about preventive aspects, etc., including Homoeopathy. Some of the states and union territories are also providing panchakarma related procedure in Ayush health and wellness centre. And these Ayush health and wellness centre orientation is also being provide about importance of medicinal plant in different type of the common. So all Ayush treatment is beneficial.
