Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission - Digital Transformation in Healthcare

Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), is a flagship initiative of the Government of India aimed at transforming the healthcare sector using digital technology. Launched in August 2021, the mission seeks to create a digital ecosystem for healthcare services, connecting various stakeholders such as patients, doctors, hospitals, and insurers.

The key components of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission include:

1. Health ID: A unique digital health ID for every citizen, which stores their health records, prescriptions, and other medical information.

2. Personal Health Records (PHR): Citizens can access and manage their health records electronically through the PHR system.

3. Telemedicine: The mission promotes the use of telemedicine services to ensure remote access to healthcare consultations.

4. Electronic Health Records (EHR): Hospitals and healthcare providers can digitize and maintain patient records electronically.

5. Health Facility Registry: A comprehensive database of healthcare facilities across the country.

6. Health Professional Registry: A database of registered healthcare professionals.

7. Health Insurance Claims Platform: A platform to simplify and streamline health insurance claims.

The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission aims to improve the efficiency, accessibility, and quality of healthcare services in India by leveraging digital tools and technologies. It aligns with the broader goals of the Ayushman Bharat program, which includes two components: the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) providing health insurance coverage to economically vulnerable families, and the Health and Wellness Centers (HWCs) offering primary healthcare services at the grassroots level.
