    NEIAH, Shillong BAMS, BHMS Admission 2016 - Notification

    North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy Shillong, Meghalaya, comprising Ayurveda and Homoeopathy Colleges and attached Hospitals is going to admit 50 candidates each for BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery) and BHMS (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine & Surgery) courses for the academic session 2016-2017. 

    Candidates who appeared in NEET 2016 and are desirous of taking admission in NEIAH for the above-mentioned courses may download the prescribed application format from the website www.neiah.nic.in.


    How to Apply: Duly filled in applications in prescribed format enclosing self-attested copies of all certificates, mark sheets, NEET 2016 Admit Card with mark sheet, testimonials in support of age, PRC, educational qualifications, caste/community/Persons with disabilities (PWD) issued by Competent authority of Central/State Govt., two copies of recent passport size photographs along with application fee should reach the office of

    The envelope containing application form should be superscribed as "APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION INTO BAMS/ BHMS COURSE "and sent by Speed-Post/ by Hand.

    Last date of submission of application: 21-11-2016.

    Date of counseling: 25-11-2016 & 26-11-2016

    Date of admission: 29-11-2016.

    Application Fee: An application fee of the amount mentioned as under should be remitted by the candidates to the Institute in the form of Demand Draft issued in favour of Director, North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Homoeopathy, payable at Shillong.
    a) General / OBC - Fee Rs 1,000/-
    b) ST/ SC/ PWD - Fee Rs 500/-

    Note:
    1. Application received after the closing date will not be considered. The Institute shall not be responsible for any postal delay/ lapse on the part of courier agency or any other reasons whatsoever. The decision of the Director, NEIAH will be final in this regard.
    2. Institute reserves the right to make any amendment or cancellation of this advertisement wholly or partially without assigning any reason thereof.
    3. The admission to the said courses will be subject to production of physical and medical fitness certificate issued by a Competent Medical Board.
    4. The candidate shall have to appear for counseling, if called for, at his/her own cost.
    5. The date for determining the age limit is 31st December, 2016.
    6. Any corrigendum/ order regarding this advertisement will be issued and placed on the website (www.neiah.nic.in) only. Candidates are advised to remain in touch with the website for this purpose. No separate corrigendum etc. will be published in Newspaper. Page 3 of 5
    7. On the backside of Demand Draft, candidate must mention Candidate’s name, category and the course applied for.
    8. Application fee is non refundable
    9. Canvassing in any form may lead to disqualification of the applicant.
    10. No TA/ DA will be entitled to the candidates for appearing in counseling/ admission.

    Courses: The Institute will conduct the 5½ years Degree Course in Ayurveda and Homoeopathy viz., Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S.) Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (B.H.M.S.) respectively. The courses are full time regular courses as per the regulation of respective Council, approved by Govt. of India and Govt. of Meghalaya. The Institute is affiliated to The North Eastern Hills University (NEHU), Shillong for both these courses.

    Distribution of Seats:
    Number of seats for BAMS: Arunachal Pradesh - 3, Manipur - 3, Meghalaya - 7, Mizoram - 3, Nagaland - 3, Sikkim - 3, Tripura - 3, Foreign Nationals - 1, All India Open Seat - 24* 
    Total - 50 

    Number of seats for BHMS: Arunachal Pradesh - 3, Manipur - 3, Meghalaya - 7, Mizoram - 3, Nagaland - 3, Sikkim - 3, Tripura - 3, Foreign Nationals - 1, All India Open Seat - 24* 
    Total - 50 

    • *24 (twenty four) seats under the All India Open Seats will be filled up based on NEET 2016 Merit. For the seats under Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland,
    • Sikkim and Tripura, State-wise merit of the applicants would also be drawn on the basis of NEET 2016 and admissions granted as per the quota of the respective State Governments. 
    • If there is no candidate available under the seats allocated under the North Eastern states’ Quota mentioned above, seat will automatically move to All India Open Seat Quota.
    • Reservation Policy of Govt. of India for 24 (twenty four) seats under the All India Open Seats will be followed and for state Seats, the reservation policy applicable in the respective State will be followed. 
    • Similarly, in the absence of sufficient number of eligible applications of foreign nationals forwarded to the institute by ICCR, the seat will automatically move to All India Open Seat Quota.


    Method of Selection:
    • A combined merit list of all the candidates will be drawn on the basis of their performance in the NEET 2016.
    • Inter-se merit: In the case of two or more candidates securing equal marks in the Entrance Examination their inter-se merit shall be determined from the marks of the Entrance

    Examination as follows:
    a. Eliminating first English marks.
    b. If there is still a tie by eliminating physics marks.
    c. If there is still a tie by eliminating chemistry marks.
    d. If there is still a tie by eliminating Botany marks.
    e. If the tie is still not broken, then a Candidate senior in age rank senior to a candidate who is junior in age.

    Selected candidates will have to attend counseling and medical examination at the Institute at their own cost on the notified date. At the time of counseling, candidates will have to attend in person and will have to produce the original Mark sheets of the qualifying examination and other original documents such as proof of age, Caste Certificate, Character Certificate, etc.

    To fill the vacancies arising due to the failure of appearance by the selected candidates, sufficient number of candidates from the waiting list will also be called for counseling intimating their merit position in order. Such candidates will have to appear for the counseling on the notified date at their own risk and cost.

    Candidates who fail to attend counseling/medical examination on the notified date shall forfeit their claim for admission and placement in the waiting list.

    Result and other related notifications will be placed in the official website www.neiah.nic.in and the Notice Board of Examination cell, NEIAH, Shillong.

    Eligibility:
    1. Nationality: Applicant must be a citizen of India.
    2. The applicant should have studied and completed their course in the schools located in India in the preceding two years. (Not applicable for foreign students)
    3. He/She has completed the age of 17 years as on 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year BAMS/BHMS course and maximum age limit will be 25 years as on 31st December of the year of his/her admission. SC/ST candidates will get relaxation of age as per GOI Rules.

    The applicant should have passed the qualifying examinations in the manner mentioned below:
    A. Candidate must have passed 10+2 with the subject comprising Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany and Zoology).
    B. The applicant must have passed in the Subject of Physics, Chemistry, Biology (or Botany and Zoology) and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% for General candidates and 45% for ST/SC category candidates.
    C. For foreign nationals, ICCR will be requested to forward the applications to NEIAH for admission under the AYUSH Scholarship Scheme. NEIAH will examine the applications in terms of admission into the course.

    Medical Examination: The selected candidates shall have to undergo medical examination by a Medical Board set up by the Institute, consisting of faculty members of the Institute. If, in the assessment of Medical Board, a candidate is found medically unfit to be admitted to the course, he/she will be rejected and will not be admitted and the decision of the Board shall be final in this regard. In that case, in his/her place, the next student in the order of merit will be admitted.

    Date of Joining: Admitted candidates must join classes by the date stipulated by the Institute for the year of admission. The admission of the candidate, who fails to join the classes by the stipulated date, shall automatically be cancelled and such seats shall then be offered to the candidates on the waiting list in order of merit.

    Fees and Expenses: All the selected candidates are required to pay the admission fee, course fees and other deposits, etc. as per rule in force.

    Reason which may lead to rejection of Applications: Candidates are advised to read all instructions carefully before and check their application before submission. Otherwise applications
    are likely to be rejected on one or more of the following reasons:-
    • Applications received after the closing date.
    • Applications not in prescribed format.
    • Candidates not having the required qualifications and being overage.
    • Applications without latest photo not being pasted in the provided space.
    • Applications without declaration.
    • Applications without signatures.
    • Applications without supporting documents.
    • Applications which are incomplete/illegible in any manner.
    • Applications without the prescribed Application Fee
    • Applications without the Permanent Residential Certificate in prescribed format
