A homoeopathy research unit under the Central Council for Research in Homeopathy (CCRH) is likely to be set up in the Phansidewa block near Siliguri.
The CCRH is an autonomous organisiation under the
department of AYUSH, ministry of health and family welfare, government of India.
“A research unit of homoeopathy of the CCRH will be set up on .33 acres of land owned by the Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA) at Choto Poturam in Phansidewa block,” SJDA Chairman and north Bengal development minister Gautam Deb said after the SJDA board meeting today.
SJDA sources said the Clinical Research Unit for Homoeopathy had approached the SJDA for the land allotment.
“They had applied for the land around six months ago for the research unit, where the outpatient department will also be set up. It (land allotment) has been approved in the board meeting. The SJDA is going to issue an offer letter to the unit,” the sources said.

The notification to acquire the land was issued in 2004 and the acquisition process started in 2006.
“We have decided to return nine acres of land to the unwilling persons. But the legal tangle is involved with eight families,” he added.

The Centre for Perishable Cargo at Bagdogra airport, which was opened earlier, would be functional soon,he further said.
