ALLAHABAD: To celebrate the First International Yoga Day in a big way, at least 5,300 officers and cadets of National Cadet Corps (NCC) of all the universities, colleges and schools would be trained by yoga gurus for a massive exercise to be carried out on June 21.

The officers of the NCC concluded the training regime on Thursday.

Cutting across religion barrier, these students who have enrolled as cadets in National Cadets Corps in universities and colleges across the city would perform various forms of 'asanas', 'pranayam' and 'dhyan' simultaneously across the city.

The training regime has been prepared by the department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) under the Government of India.

June 21 has been declared as the International Day of Yoga by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 2014 after an initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address to UN General Assembly in November 2014.

The training session for cadets of Allahabad University would start on May 1.

It would be followed by Kali Prasad Intermediate College, Government Girls' Inter College, Government Inter College, Majidia Islamia Inter College, Colonelganj Inter College and Army Public School among a dozen other school, colleges and Universities.

The coordinator of the massive Yoga exercise, Gyanmata Radha Satyam of Kriyayoga Ashram said, "Yoga symbolises unity of mind and body and brings harmony between human being and nature."

"Thus, it is not limited to any border, gender, religion or caste and is the same reason why International Yoga Day has been planned to be celebrated across the country in such a big way by the Central government."

She said as part of the celebration, at least 5,300 cadets of NCC from the district would be trained on 15 types of 'asanas', 'Pranayam', 'Kriyayog dhyan' comprising Aatma darshan' and 'Swaroop darshan'.

"A batch of 12 yoga gurus including Mukund Satam, Daksha Satyam and Amrita of the Kriyayog Ashram and A0nusandhan Sansthan is providing training to the cadets. The training regime of the officers concluded on Thursday," added Gyanmata Radha Satyam.
