Tamil Nadu Budget 2015 - Health Department gets Rs.8,245 crore
Chennai: Tamil Nadu
chief minister O.Panneerselvam on Wednesday, 25th March, 2015, presented the last full budget of
the ruling AIADMK government ahead of the the 2016 assembly elections without
announcing any major schemes.
The budget speech,
which highlighted the achievement of party chief and former chief minister J.Jayalalithaa,
mainly focused on budgetary allocations for different departments and schemes.
The chief minister said
Rs.55,100 crore would be allocated for different department and schemes for the
year 2015-16. Out of this, the health department would get Rs
8,245 crore.
He also allocated Rs. 1347.67 Crore for development
of National Health Mission in the state.
He also stated that the Government has checked the spread of swine flu, dengue
and other infectious diseases, the child mortality rate is much less when
compared to other states, he added.
Rs.281 crore has been allocated for Chief Minister’s
Insurance scheme, Rs.668.32 crore for Poor Pregnant Woman Welfare Fund scheme.
