    Public Opinion invited for the proposed MTP (Amendment) Bill - 2014

    Government of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Maternal Health Division is proposing to bring in some provisions of The Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, 1971. And invites views/suggestions from the interested stakeholders and from general public.


    The suggestions can be sent through email at saurabh.mittal89@nic.in on or before 10th November, 2014.

    Some of the features of MTP (Amendment) Bill, 2014:
    •  In the long title, for the words "by registered medical practitioners" the words "by registered health care providers" shall be substituted.
    • Registered health care provider means - a medical practitioner who possesses any recognised medical qualification as in clause (h) of section 2 of IMC Act, 1956, or any recognised qualification of Ayurveda, Unani or Siddha in clause (h) of section 2 of IMC Act, 1970, or any recognised medical qualification of Homoeopathy in clause (g) of section 2 of HCC Act, 1973, or recognised qualification in general nursing or auxiliary nurse midwifery.
