TN CM Commissioned New Men's Hostel in GHMCH, Tirumangalam
Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Monday(07-09-2015) commissioned through video conferencing buildings and medical facilities in various government colleges and hospitals in the State.
Facilities worth Rs. 107.48 lakh were commissioned and stone
laid for projects to the tune of Rs. 159.30 crore.
Apart from new blocks and buildings for hospitals in Chennai, several medical colleges in other districts and facilities in taluk and district hospitals were also upgraded.
Coimbatore Medical College has been provided a new library at a cost of Rs. 3.36 crore.
The college has been provided a microbiology research building. An integrated emergency maternity ward has been built at Villupuram Medical College Hospital. The hospital, along with Dharmapuri Medical College Hospital, has been equipped with de-addiction centres. The research facility at King Institute in Chennai has been upgraded at a cost of Rs. 1.2 crore.
Outpatient wards
Facilities in district headquarters and taluk hospitals have been improved in Periyakulam, Andipatti, Gingee, Tiruchendur, Pollachi, Erode, Perundurai, Gobichettipalayam, Perambalur, Krishnagiri, Namakkal, Kumbakonam, Pattukottai and Tirukattupalli hospitals. These hospitals have been upgraded with new outpatient wards, operation theatres, post-op wards, neonatal intensive care units, drug storage facilities and integrated emergency care centres for women and children and maternity facilities.
The government has built a men’s hostel, kitchen and lobby at a cost of Rs. 1.49 crore at the Homoeopathy Medical College in Tirumangalam in Madurai district.
New office buildings for the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, the deputy director’s office in Erode and 15 upgraded primary health centres in the Nilgiris, Salem, Thanjavur, Karur, Madurai, Nagapattinam, Dharmapuri, Villupuram, Kanyakumari and Tiruvallur were commissioned. The Chief Minister also commissioned eight new PHCs besides nursing quarters in PHCs and maternity centres in existing PHCs in the districts. Two residential buildings in Mottampatti in Villupuram district besides training centres for healthcare workers were also inaugurated.
