The Indian Consulate in Dubai has announced plans to introduce free health check-ups by ayurvedic and homeopathic doctors every week.

While the ayurvedic consultation starts today and will be held for two hours on
Sundays and Wednesdays between 10am and 12 noon, homeopathic consultation will be held once a week every Tuesday from 9am-11am.

The consulate has tied up with Dr Sham’s Ayurvedic Clinic for the former. Raju Balakrishnan, Consul (Consular, Press & Information at the Consulate General of India) said the initiative named ‘Ayush’ is part of the government of India’s push towards developing education and research in Ayurveda (Indian traditional medicine), yoga, naturopathy, unani, siddha and homoeopathy, and other alternative medicine systems.

“It will firstly be free. Anyone can avail the facility. Patients requiring treatment will be given prescriptions and medicines will have to be purchased from outside,” he said.

The facility will only be available at the Indian Consulate premises in Dubai. According to officials, there are no immediate plans to expand it to the Northern Emirates.
